Tokyo-based Norwegian artist Gardar Eide Einarsson is drawn to the cracks in societies, somewhere in between where the establishment ends and the individual’s impulse to question authorities prevails. In his visual poetics of recontextualisation, Einarsson uses found imagery to explore the power structures in society and the negotiation between the individual and the state. He captures the extremes of the zeitgeist by observing how the world is constantly negotiated between those in control and those being repressed.


Paul Klee's Pädagogisches Skizzenbuch is based on the cover of book two of the fourteen Bauhaus books (written by Paul Klee and designed by László Moholy-Nagy) but with all textual information being removed. The painting is an exploration of the no-mans-land residing between design and art, the continued relevance (or not) of the avant-garde and painting’s ability (or not) to take on new and other meanings in relation to its own contemporary context independent of the original source material.
