传记

Sihan Guo (b.2000 in Shanghai, China) lives and works in Shanghai, China. Guo graduated with a BFA in Studio Art from the New York University in 2022. Her practice investigates abstraction as a radical act of resistance against conventional notions of order, symmetry and harmony. Working primarily with oil on wood panel, Guo develops process-driven compositions that emerge without preparatory sketches, guided instead by instinctive and impromptu gestures. Her works are characterized by swirling, fragmented forms and hazy, evanescent silhouettes. Personal narrative and collective experience converge into dynamic fields of tension. Through erosion and fragmentation, Guo constructs a visual language that engages with deconstructivist tendencies, exploring themes of unpredictability, transformation and the cyclical interplay between revelation and concealment.

Her work was presented in her debut solo exhibition Forking Passage at Cassina Projects in the fall of 2025. Other recent solo and group shows include Podium Gallery (Hong Kong, 2025); Public Gallery (London, 2025); Florit/Florit (Palma 2025); Alexander Berggruen (New York, 2024); Pedro Cera (Lisbon, 2024); the National Arts Club (New York, 2022); and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (China, 2021), including other presentations at commercial galleries. In 2023, Guo was in residency at Season III International Residency (Brooklyn, NY), and in 2022 was awarded the Will Barnet Prize by the National Arts Club, New York. Her work is collected by the Green Family Art Foundation in Dallas, Texas, and Simian Collection, China.
